Bridal Makeup for a Round Face: Contour, Blush and Brows
By Bridal Makeup Artist · Updated

A round face is soft, youthful and very photogenic. Bridal makeup doesn’t need to “fix” it. It just adds a little gentle structure so your features stay defined under flash. The secret is placing everything at an upward angle.
Contour
- Choose a cool or neutral contour about two shades deeper than your skin. Bronzer is too warm for structure.
- Place it just under the cheekbone, starting at the ear and angling up and back. Stop around the middle of the eye.
- Add a light shade along the sides of the forehead at the temples and just under the jawline.
- Blend until there are no visible edges, because harsh lines show in photos.
Blush and highlight
- Sweep blush above the contour, angled towards the temples, rather than on the round apples of the cheeks.
- Highlight the tops of the cheekbones, the centre of the forehead and the chin to bring the centre of the face forward.
Brows and lips
- A soft, lifted arch adds vertical lines that balance roundness. Avoid very rounded or very flat brows.
- Define the lips with liner and a medium-depth shade for balance.
Frequently asked questions
Where should I put blush if I have a round face?
Higher than usual, along and just above the cheekbone, swept up towards the temples rather than circled on the apples.
Should brides with round faces contour?
Lightly, yes. A soft, upward contour under the cheekbones and jaw keeps the face defined in photos.
