Bridal Makeup With Glasses: How to Look Amazing in Your Frames
By Bridal Makeup Artist · Updated

Plenty of brides wear their glasses on the wedding day, and they look wonderful. Frames and lenses change how makeup reads, though, so a few small adjustments make a big difference in photos.
Keep eye makeup inside the frame
Glasses create a new outline around the eyes. Keep shadow, liner and lashes inside that outline. A wing that sticks out past the frame looks broken.
Choose shades that work with lenses
- Use matte, well-blended neutrals. Strong shimmer and glitter bounce light off the lenses and look shiny in photos.
- Pick colours that complement your frames rather than repeating them. Pink shadow behind pink frames can make eyes look tired.
- Short-sighted lenses make eyes look smaller, so add more definition: liner, a deeper crease and lashes.
- Long-sighted lenses magnify, so keep everything soft and precisely blended. Mistakes are magnified too.
Brows, cheeks and lips
- Shape your brows to sit just above, or follow, the top of the frame so you don’t get a “double brow”.
- Apply blush along the cheekbone towards the temples, not under the lenses.
- A slightly stronger, defined lip balances the frames.
- If the frame rests on your cheeks, set that area well so foundation doesn’t wear off.
An anti-reflective coating on your lenses cuts flash glare in photos, so your eyes and eye makeup stay visible.
Frequently asked questions
Should I wear my glasses in my wedding photos?
If you wear them every day, yes. You’ll look like yourself. Anti-glare lenses and matte eye makeup help a lot.
Can I wear false lashes with glasses?
Yes, but choose short, wispy styles so they don’t brush against the lenses.
