Most bridal bookings come from a small number of sources, and they’re not the ones new artists usually spend money on. Here are eight that consistently work, roughly in the order to tackle them.

1. A portfolio of real brides

Brides need to see someone like them looking beautiful. Show bridal work in daylight, grouped so brides of every skin tone and style can find themselves. If you’re starting out, a styled shoot with a wedding photographer is the quickest way to get there.

2. Google Business Profile and reviews

When a bride searches “bridal makeup artist near me”, the map results come first. A complete profile with photos, a clear service area and a steady stream of reviews is free and powerful. Ask every bride for a review two or three weeks after the wedding, with a direct link.

3. Referrals from other suppliers

Photographers, venues, planners and hair stylists are asked “Who do you recommend?” all the time. Introduce yourself to the ones whose style matches yours, recommend them back, and be the artist who keeps mornings calm and on time. That’s how you get recommended.

4. One well-chosen wedding directory

Many couples shortlist suppliers on wedding directory sites. Test one that suits your brides before paying for several, and track how many enquiries it actually brings.

5. Social media that shows the work

Post finished looks, before-and-afters, quick tips and wedding-morning behind-the-scenes. Tag the photographer, venue and hair stylist so their followers see you too.

6. A website that answers questions

Gallery, services, “from” prices, areas covered, reviews and an easy enquiry form. Brides who can’t find a price or an area often move on to the next artist.

7. The right wedding fairs

Only the ones your kind of bride attends. Bring a portfolio on a tablet and printed price guides, collect contact details with permission, and follow up within a few days.

8. Turn every wedding into the next booking

Bridesmaids become brides, and mothers have parties too. Leave cards or a QR code, mention lessons and event makeup, and invite the party to your mailing list (with permission).

Track everything: ask every enquiry how they found you. After one season you’ll know exactly where your brides come from.

What’s the best way to get bridal makeup clients?

For most artists, referrals from other wedding suppliers and Google reviews bring the most bookings, backed up by a strong bridal portfolio.

Are wedding fairs worth it for makeup artists?

They can be, if the fair attracts your kind of bride. Ask organisers about attendance and venue style first, and always follow up quickly.
