Bridal Makeup for Green Eyes: Shades That Make Them Glow
By Bridal Makeup Artist · Updated

Green eyes look greenest next to reds and purples, their opposites on the colour wheel. In bridal makeup that means soft, wearable versions: mauve, dusty rose, plum and burgundy. They’re romantic, photograph beautifully and make green eyes look almost jewel-like.
Eyeshadow for green eyes
- Lid: rose-gold, pink champagne or soft lilac shimmer
- Crease: mauve or dusty rose matte
- Outer corner: plum, aubergine or burgundy-brown
- Liner: deep plum or brown-black instead of jet black
Adjusting for hair colour and shade of green
- Green eyes and brown hair: lean into richer plum and burgundy with bronze on the lid.
- Green eyes and blonde hair: keep it soft with rose, mauve and taupe, and a light brown liner.
- Blue-green eyes: warm copper on the lid brings out the green, and plum in the crease brings out the blue.
- Hazel eyes: the same palette works. Add gold shimmer to bring out the flecks.
Cheeks and lips
Keep the cheeks and lips in the rose family so the whole face feels harmonious: tea-rose blush and a rosy-nude or berry lip. Avoid very orange corals, which can compete with the eyes.
Frequently asked questions
What colour eyeshadow is best for green eyes on a wedding day?
Mauve, dusty rose, plum and burgundy. Use a soft shimmer on the lid and the deepest shade only at the outer corner.
Can brides with green eyes wear green eyeshadow?
It’s best avoided for bridal looks. Matching the eye colour flattens it, while opposite colours make it stand out.
