The Wedding Day Touch-Up Kit: What to Pack in Your Clutch
Updated

Even the best bridal makeup needs a little help over a 12-hour day. A small, well-planned touch-up kit, carried by you or your maid of honour, keeps you looking fresh in every photo without a full redo.
The essentials
- Your exact lipstick and lip liner, bought at your trial
- Oil-blotting papers
- Pressed powder in your shade, with a small velour puff
- Cotton buds and a mini bottle of micellar water for smudges
- Mini concealer for redness around the nose after happy tears
- Lash glue, in case a strip lifts at the corner
- Travel-size setting spray
- Tissues, a compact mirror and a few bobby pins
Nice to have
- Lip balm for the evening, once photos are done
- Breath mints
- A small hand cream
- A mini brush that works for both powder and blush
The two-minute touch-up
- Blot shine on the forehead, nose and chin. Press, don’t wipe.
- Clean up under the eyes with a cotton bud dipped in micellar water.
- Powder by pressing it lightly into the T-zone only.
- Reline and reapply lips, blot, then add a second layer.
- Mist setting spray to melt everything back into the skin.
When to touch up
- Just before walking down the aisle
- After the formal family photos
- Before your entrance to the reception
- After dinner and speeches
- Before the first dance
Always blot before powdering. Powder pressed onto oil turns cakey and patchy, and blotting first keeps the skin looking like skin.
